Class Description:
This six-week course is designed for those who have taken one of our acrylic courses already and are ready to explore the world of oil painting. Over the course of six two-hour sessions, students will learn essential oil painting techniques with a focus on still life.
Participants will gain an understanding of how to mix colors accurately on the palette, avoiding muddy colors, and will become familiar with the properties of oil paint, including its slower drying time. We will cover the basics of composition, value, and texture, allowing students to create realistic and expressive works.
Some comfort with drawing is recommended, as we’ll begin by sketching our still life subjects before moving on to painting. By the end of the course, students will have completed a series of oil paintings and developed the confidence to continue exploring this timeless medium.
